Title Johnson's Island prison watercolor drawing
Scope & Content Watercolor drawing of the Civil War prison camp on Johnson's Island. The original image was drawn by a Confederate prisoner of war on the back of a personal letter. (The only portion of the letter that exists is the part directly opposite the drawing.) The original source and provenance of the drawing is unknown -- the original document was accessioned in 1966 as an item found in the collection.
